Eleutheromania means an intense and irresistible desire for freedom.
At certain points in life, the feeling of eleutheromania washes over us like a thirst that needs to be quenched. This intense desire for freedom burns from deep within, a place you did not know existed. It is during these moments that we tend to want to throw caution to the wind, drive off into the night without a care in the world and leaving all our ‘problems’ behind.
As amazing as it sounds there is one thing that will continue to follow you no matter where you go… yourself.
The freedom you seek is not for the world around you through from within you. This irresistible desire is a cover for what is truly hidden beneath the surface of your skin. As humans we tend to place our discomfort outside of ourselves, blaming external circumstances for our discomfort.
The truth is that we must go deep within to seek what is causing the discomfort. Circumstances outside of our control may be the main cause of the discomfort, though it is how we choose to deal with the discomfort that will shape our sense of eleutheromania.
Do you lean into the discomfort and take it as an opportunity to learn, expand your knowledge, grow and possibly even thrive? Or do you choose to stay hidden behind your skin, to stay exactly where you are, feet planted firmly in the ground?
We are not trees with our roots buried deep within the soil, we have the ability to grow freely.
