The saying has long been said ‘if you don’t go within then you will go without’ and after finding myself in a metaphorical dark room with not even a single ray of sunshine to light the way, I decided this was the moment.
The moment to silence all the external noises and distractions to journey deep within myself. The moment to learn to listen to the invoice of fear and judgment to be able to understand its breeding ground and silence its negative voice.
There are some incredible, eye-opening and mind-blowing lessons I’ve learnt along the way.
1. Listen To Your Gut
Your gut instinct is never wrong; it seems to know what is right for you before you even know. The mind is rational, the heart passionate and we as humans tend to lead with one or the other but what about those decisions based off a feeling. The saying ‘I feel it in my gut’ doesn’t come from a belly ache but that encompassing knowledge that it is right or wrong, whether you know the reasoning or not.
2. Love Uno Number One
It is not until we first love ourselves that we are able to truly accept what we are worthy of in this world. This is one of the most important and hardest lessons that we must learn because to truly love who you are will free you from the judgment and demeaning thoughts we create about ourselves.
3. Your Temple Is Your Home
Our physical and mental health are connected to what we fuel our bodies with and how we move them each day. The human body is a complex organism that thrives on clean natural whole foods, hours of uninterrupted sleep and physical exertion of energy to keep the blood and endorphins pumping.
4. Fear Only Holds You Back
Fear: be afraid of (someone or something) as likely to be dangerous, painful, or harmful. What is holding you back from leading the life of your dreams is fear, but what is it that you fear? Is it acceptance, love, respect, community, friendship, disappointing others… Without fear, we do not learn, and if we do not learn then we do not grow and to grow is to find that moment in which you spread your wings and begin to fly.
I would love to hear what’s holding you back and if this resonates with you in the comments below. Share open and freely, we’re all on a journey to finding our health, happiness and love. What works for you might just be the thing that clicks for someone else, so please share.
