What’s Holding You Back?

When you think about your life do you see overflowing joy? Do you feel content and fulfilled? Do you love what you see? If you answered no to one or all of the above then you are not alone.

Have you ever stopped to wonder why it is that you feel this way? I can tell you I know the answer and it is not pretty. It all comes down to one reason…

“the forming of an opinion, estimate, notion, or conclusion, as from circumstances presented to the mind”

There are two parts of judgement that hold us back from living our true, soulful, happy life.

1. We are concerned about what others think of us.
We hold back from sharing our opinions, ideas and knowledge because of what someone may think. We dress a certain way and hide our true feelings as someone else may not agree. How many times have you done this? Be honest! I wouldn’t even be able to count the number of times I have held back from fear of being judged.

While you are holding yourself back because you are afraid of what others may think about you, you are not even giving them the opportunity to show you who they are. You are actually judging them first and without a reason, and you are allowing others to see a false person. When you create relationships based upon fear of being judged you will never truly feel connected because you haven’t opened yourself up to allow the opportunity to present itself.

2. We allow our inner voice to judge our self.
We tell ourselves that we are not good enough, not pretty enough, not strong enough, not smart enough. The list is endless. Have you ever stopped to ask that little voice why exactly it thinks you can’t?

There is only one you in the world! And you know what? You are friggen amazing, you are exactly who you are supposed to be right now.

I want you to start to pay attention to when you allow judgement to step into your day. Note down each time that that little voice makes an appearance and what the situation is that it makes an appearance in. See if you can find a pattern or common theme.
