Mind Games

A mind is a curious place, an oasis in a desert. It tends to run wild with myths and legends of the past, developing layers as the year’s pass.

It holds some of your most beautiful memories and moments locked away in the tower though hosts the so-called negative experiences for the most lavish dinner. Those moments of regret and shame linger for after dinner drinks, whilst those words said out of fear and jealousy towards you cluster talking like long lost friends in the night.

The mind is curious, continually busy, never stopping to take a breath. We’ve become accustomed to this business, thriving on it. We have conversations in our mind, preparing our reaction to what might happen and replaying past conversations. We argue with the mind, toing and froing with it as though it is two people; yourself and the mind as separate entities.

Though if the mind is not you then who is the mind?

We hear that we are what we think, we manifest what we think, say and how we act. Though how do you change the way you think? The simple idea that I am the mind, that it is not a separate entity of who I am though it is a part of who I am has enabled me to start to look to my thoughts differently.

If you want to make a change they say you first need the awareness, but then what?

It is true when you are able to quite them mind your sense of bliss and happiness rises, I have experienced this for myself. Though I have also experienced the relapses and downfalls of returning to the mind games and chatter. After all, I am only human.

So how do you learn to quiet the mind…

The mind becomes louder during times of growth, we want to hide away from fear and discomfort though on the edge of fear and courage is growth. These are the moments we need to dive off the edge and into the unknown.
