The Simple Step To Feeling Good Within

For as long as I can remember the “disease to please” has been my autopilot, without much thought for the toll this takes on me physically, mentally and emotionally. It is in my nature to put others needs before my own and to want to always be there for my loved ones no matter how I am feeling or what I have going on.

If my calendars full, not a problem! I’ll shift this there, and squeeze this in that gap and voila¬†there is no time or space for little old me.

Sure when there are big projects on, life-changing events to be celebrated and loved ones who need a little extra support sure this is perfectly ok to have a full calendar, though this should not become a default setting.

When you fill every inch of your time and space suddenly your energy levels begin to drop, your emotions are heightened and your attention span is short. Your attention begins to be drawn towards the negative, simple problems become volcanic eruptions and that support for a friend turns from loving to rushed chatter.

To give to others and be on top of our game we must give ourselves time and space. This simple yet incredibly fulfilling step will allow you to be the best version of yourself.

It’s incredible how this simple step can have you feeling energised physically, mentally and emotionally. When all this are aligned you can give to others from a place of love, kindness and compassion.

Learn to block out time and space whenever you can to refuel yourself, the positive effects will surprise you!

It may be 15 minutes or an entire day, it could be one day a week or every single day, whatever it is you need to refuel and regenerate yourself go for it. Put that phone on silent or better yet aeroplane mode and do something just for you.

Some ideas for refuelling yourself so you’re bursting at the seems:

  • Sitting in the sunshine with your favourite tea or coffee
  • Diving into the ocean
  • Book yourself a massage
  • Attend your favourite yoga/boxing/pilates/barre/F45 class
  • Go for a walk or run in nature
  • Read a book
  • Meditate
  • Take yourself for breakfast/brunch/lunch/linner/dinner

It really doesn’t matter what you do, the only thing that matters is that you start to make yourself a priority. Begin to make time and space for yourself so that you can feel positive, content and joy within yourself first.

When you feel good within yourself, you are able to give to others without depleting your own energy levels and are able to show up fully for them. Creating a positive experience for yourself and for them.
