The Path To Joy Isn’t Easy

When all you want to attract into your life is happiness, joy, contentment, peace, and love why does it seem to feel that all you’re attracting is the opposite?

To feel lasting happiness, joy, contentment, peace, and love you have to do the work. That’s right, you have to do the work.

These things don’t come into your life when you’re burying your emotions deep within you. When you feel sad, angry, resentful etc. what is the first thing you do? Do you hit the eject button? Find the fastest escape route?

Do you call a friend to go do something, anything? Do you get on social media to scroll away the time until your lost in the pages and not your feelings? Do you decide to pick up your laptop and do work instead? Or how about exercise the crap out of those feelings?

I get it, I have done all of these things and then some to escape my emotions. Who the hell wants to feel sad or angry?! Not me!Though I can tell you that this will not bring you the happiness, joy, contentment, peace or love that you seek. These emotions will continue to come up and appear, to reappear and then for good measure sticks around like a rain cloud over your head.

So what is the “work” and why the heck do I have to do the “work” when I’ve already been busting my butt at my job all day?

To burst through the barrier that is keeping you stuck emotionally in fear town you have to face it head-on. When an emotion appears that makes you feel uncomfortable sit with it, allow yourself to be completely encased in this emotion and allow it to wash over you.

If you have sit slumped over in a pile of snotty tissues or punch your pillow until you’re exhausted then go right ahead and do it, sister. Go right ahead and allow these emotions to flow like a beautiful waterfall.

As it begins to ease start to ask your self where did that come? Why do I feel this way? Is it a past or present situation that is bringing up these emotions? Am I creating a story or is this the truth? Is my ego leading this emotion or my heart?

Once you have an understanding of where your emotion is coming from and if it is lead from a place of fear or love you’ll be able to see the light. You will be able to determine if it is the truth or a story that you’re building up and creating with your ego.

We cannot attract a life of happiness, joy, contentment, peace, and love when we have feelings of anger, resentment, sadness and injustice stored deep within us. If we do not allow ourselves the space to release and let go of these feelings then we will continue to carry them around every single day.

Remember that your ego will lead you to act from a place of fear and releasing built up emotions can be scary, you will have to deal with the deep root of where these emotions come from and why you’re holding onto them. Though holding onto them will not lead you to happiness, peace or love.
