Do you continually ask yourself why? Why did I do that? Why am I in this situation?

Why am I living this way? Why did I stay in that relationship? Why did I say that? Why….

This used to be me. I had everything figured out, I knew where I wanted to be and how I was going to get there and then life happened. Something stepped in and threw my very organised plan off track and suddenly I’d be asking why did this happen to me?

Then I’d mope around, down in the dumps thinking life wasn’t on my side until suddenly I’d pick myself and get started all over again. I’d create my next plan and be on cloud nine until suddenly life got in the way again. A vicious cycle of continually feeling as though I wasn’t making any progress and that life was picking on me.

That is the thing about life, you can make all the plans and be as organised as you want though part of the experience and fun of it all is the experiences we never expected. We are an accumulation of all the experiences we have, and how we choose to accept and appreciate them.

It is brilliant to have plans and desires in life. Working towards goals that are close to our hearts is noble and creates a rush of excitement, adventure, and achievement. I believe that we should all have goals and to continue to strive for things that are important to us as individuals. What we need to remember though is that it is not about the destination but the journey.

Just because life throws a curveball your way doesn’t mean you should lose sight of the bigger picture and what is important to you, this change is all part of the experience. Each detour can enlighten you to a new way of thinking and a new way of achieving your goal. Don’t remain stuck in believing that there is only one way for your life and goals to unfold, as the ocean changes with the tide so must you.

Not every moment will play out the way you had planned in your head. You may not understand right away why something happened the way that it did, though when you look back in time you will see how far you have come and be thankful for how that experience as it helped to create the life that you have now.

Accept that some things are out of your control and life will lead you to where you need to go.
